Back on Valentine’s Day in1993 when the first Ireland women’s side took to the international circuit when they took on Scotland in Edinburgh, few would have predicted how strong the national team would become in just a century of games.

In case you missed it – there was a very interesting disucssion on Radio 4’s Women’s Hour today on women’s rugby. England captain Catherine Spencer talked the presenter (who clearly had no clue about the actual sport) through the ins and outs of the game before BBC London rugby presenter Sarah Orchard made some great points.For those of you who can't access the BBC website, I've put the main points here.

Scotland lost their second game against Wales but she says her team are on the right track with four tries in two games.
