With a relatively small playing pool, Germany compete sporadically on the international stage but are hoping to boost their exposure in the years ahead. Russian women’s rugby captain Anastasiya Mukharyamova formally delivered her nation's tender to the IRB today to host the Rugby World Cup Sevens in 2013. Mukharyamova hand delivered the documents to the IRB in Dublin.  The 2013 event will be the final Rugby World Cup Sevens which will make way for the sevens game to be part of the Olympics in 2016.

The China women’s rugby 7s team took home the USA women's invitational title in Vegas after they beat the home team over the weekend. The tournament, which was also attended by the women’s teams from France, a second USA team, Germany and a selection from Canada Universities, saw the USA ‘Whites’ take to the field to take on China in front of a large home crowd.

England A and France A both won their second games in as many weeks with victories over Spain and the Netherlands. England A beat Spain 10-5 with tries from senior star Kat Merchant and Jenny Edwards while France A had a more convincing 37-3 victory. Having lost 29-0 to the same opposition this time last year, Spain game into their game with revenge in mind and a gave their more experienced opponents a tough workout.

Italy head coaches Andrea Di Giandomenico and Luca Bot will travel to Ireland next week searching for their first victory over the Irish in the Women’s 6 Nations. Since joining the 6 Nations competition in 2007 in the place of Spain, the Italians have managed just one victory over Scotland but they pushed Ireland, France and Scotland close last year. The majority of fixtures for the 2010 Women’s Six Nations have been set with only a small number of dates and venues to be confirmed. Ireland will play all of their home games at Ashbourne RFC as Friday night fixtures while England will use Esher as their base once again this year. Scotland will use a number of venues, while France have lined up the magnificent Stade Velodrome to face England in the last game.
