Wins for France and Scotland in Pool C

France stunned Canada with an 18-8 victory over the more in-form team to secure their semi-final spot. Scotland beat Sweden in the other game in the third pool.

The victory meant Ireland, Canada and Australia all finished level on ten points in the table but an inferior points difference meant Ireland fell short with the Australians eventually going through.
