Taylor seeking Welsh consistency

On being made captain:

"When I was made captain it was a massive, massive day for me. Obviously I respected the people who had been in that position before me and I'd looked up to them. My Dad wrote me a letter and told me how he was feeling and that still means a lot and I carry it round with me and read it before important games. It's really good and it's nice to know I have their support and I’ve made them as proud as can be.

On starting last year with two wins over England & Scotland - how long did you celebate beating England for?

“A bit too long maybe! It was a great start to be honest and we followed it up with a second victory, but it was a bit disappointing to the lose the last three games in the tournament. It was difficult for us, we’re not normally in that position and it will be interesting for us to see if we’ve learnt our lessons this time around."

How much can you read into beating Ireland in a warmup game recently?

“That is always tricky - having a friendly game two weeks before a tournament against a side who you will play. Both teams probably didn’t show their full hand but what we were really pleased about with is that we managed to set down some structures and some different combinations, and for me the intent and aggression that we showed was something that I wanted the girls to bring. It was important to put down that psychological marker so they remember that when we play them again."

What sort of style are Wales looking to play?

"Well I think for us it’s a more physical game than ever before, strength and conditioning is key, fitness as well. But we want to play a bit more of an exciting style of rugby, something that has some structure, but we want to play and see what we see."

Welsh Team Selection:

Wales are seeking World Cup qualification as their utimate goal and a victory against Ireland would start them off well and Rhys Edwards has named a strong side.  Adi Taviner moving to full back from her usual centre spot with youngster Robyn Wilkins getting the nod at fly half ahead of the experienced Elinor Snowsill. In the pack, Sioned Harries is switched to the second from the back row while Shona Powell-Hughes starts from No8 instead of the second row.Wales(team to play Ireland): 15 Adi Taviner, 14 Elen Evans, 13 Kerin Lake, 12 Hannah Jones, 11 Bethan Dainton, 10 Robyn Wilkins, 9 Keira Bevan; 1 Megan York, 2 Carys Phillips, 3 Amy Evans, 4 Rebecca Rowe, 5 Sioned Harries, 6 Rachel Taylor (Captain), 7 Sian Williams. 8 Shona Powell-HughesReplacement: 16 Amy Price, 17 Catrin Edwards, 18 Cerys Hale, 19 Siwan Lillicrap, 20 Alisha Butchers, 21 Elinor Snowsill, 22 Gemma Rowland, 23 Dyddgu Hywel
