World Cup pool and TV schedule announced

During the pool phase, where all games are being played at Marcoussis before the semis and final move to the home of Stade Francais in Paris, some games will overlap, but not as severely as in 2010. However despite this the current plan is that only half of the pool games will broadcast by TV rights holders (ie. Sky in Ireland and the UK, France 4 in France, Eurosport across most of continental Europe, etc.).

All of England and France’s games will be shown, while Australia, South Africa, and New Zealand will appear twice. Canada, Ireland, Samoa, Spain, United States and Wales will appear once, but none of Kazakhstan’s games will be broadcast.

There is no information yet about whether any of the other games will be streamed (they were not in 2010, though streaming was somewhat in its infancy then). It is expected – again as in 2010 – that they will be filmed and some highlights released, but no information about this has yet been published.

The programme will be as follows (all times are CET, which is GMT+2. For times in UK/Ireland subtract one hour):

Defending champions New Zealand will open the tournament at 1pm on Friday August 1, against Kazakhstan. Elsewhere on the opening day, Canada take on Spain, USA take on Ireland, Australia face South Africa, England face Samoa and finally hosts France open their account against Wales in the late evening KO at 20.45.

Ticketsfor the knockout stages range from just €5 to €20 for the semi-finals and from €5 to €25 for the final day at Stade Jean Bouin.Tickets for the pool stages will be released at a later date.
