Canada cook up more fundraising efforts

As part of their ongoing fundraising efforts, the Canada women’s rugby team has launched a 60-page cookbook. The book is a player-driven fundraiser with all money raised going back towards the cost of running the national team.

The squad and Rugby Canada have been pulling out all the stops in recent months to raise funds for their womens rugby programme and ensure that players travel to the World Cup without having to pay their own way.

Over $150,000 was recently raised through a variety of avenues.

Like Canada, other womens nations have been using innovative ways to attract more sponsorship, with the USA launching a new website www.wewantrugby.com to highlight their efforts to potential donors.

The Canada cookbook is called , 'Nutritious and Delicious: The NSWT's Guide to Healthy and SCRUMcious On-the-Go Eating'.

The cookbook is $20, with full proceeds going back to the national womens programme program, except for a portion of the sales which are being donated to the Jenny Vincent Coaching Endowment for Women's Rugby.

Jenny Vincent was a pioneering womens rugby advocate in Canada who passed away recently.
