Denmark's last XVs international before today was 20 years ago, on 8th May 2004, when they lost 8-5 against Norway, so it was appropriate that their first step towards returning to test rugby took place against Norway in Oslo.
Over the past 2-3 years, Denmark has been trying to re-introduce rugby 15s to through several cross-border activities in collaboration with the Norwegian rugby union and Gothenburg Rugby Club from Sweden.
Today's game was the next step and a chance for the players and coaching staff to showcase how far they have come against opposition at a similar stage in their development
The result was a very close game with few scoring opportunities. The only score came after 60 minutes following with a Danish try after Norway were reduced to 14 after a yellow card, and then long series of pack and goes.
Norway are already played a game in the European Conference and the current aim for Denmark is to follow their example with an official test match, ideally early in 2025.
