The Kenyan Lionesses World Cup dreams came to an end after falling 13-8 to Uganda in a closely contested Elgon Cup return match at Kampala's Kyadondo Rugby grounds on Saturday 22 June 2013. They fell 26-30 on aggregate.
A tentative first half saw both teams prod each other like prize fighters and it was Aisha Nakityo's try that broke the deadlock, touching down for a 5-0 lead that the Ugandan ladies held on to heading into the interval.
Kenya were quick off the blocks in the second half, taking the game to the Ugandans and were rewarded with a Doreen Remour penalty following a Uganda infringement, 5-3 the scores at this point.
Uganda went 10-3 up when hooker Rosenburg Kanyunyuzi barged over the line. Phila Olando scored for Kenya after fine work by the forwards, her try making it 10-8. A Rachel Babirye penalty saw the game end 13-8, Uganda reclaiming the Women's Elgon Cup and earning the right to play South Africa for the sole African berth to the 2014 Women's Rugby World Cup in France.
