Our first foray into organised events happens this June when 12 womens teams take part in the Scrumqueens.com womens 7s competition being held as part of the Rugby Rocks Festival in Richmond, London.
If you havent had a chance to check out the tournament website it is here on www.rugbyrocks.co.uk, where you can find out more about the rock element to the day, with live acts including Feeder, who are headlining, The Parlatones, Just Jack and Alex Gardner among others taking to the stage on the day.
On the rugby front, as well as the womens rugby competition, the tournament will host the first leg of the newly launched UK National Sevens Series supported by the RFU.
This series, featuring pro mens players, will take place in June/July 2010 and in its inaugural year, tournaments will take place in London, Bath, Manchester and Newquay. It will feature 10 teams, including national-level players from across the UK, battling for individual tournament honours and the overall, aggregate Series title.
There will also be a general mens open 7s competition on the day.
The womens competition will feature 12 teams from England and Ireland competing in three pools of four, before progressing into either the up or Plate knockouts.
Confirmed teams include Richmond, The Wooden Spoons, Pink Ba Baas, Bristol, Worcester and Teddington among others.
Tickets are a bit of a steal - we think anyway! - at just 15 to see the live acts plus all of the rugby so click here if you're interested.
