Nomads ready for South African tests

The Nomads, an invitational team featuring top players not currently involved in international competition as well as ex-international team players from around the world, will provide strong opposition to a side looking to prepare for the World Cup later this summer.South Africa will travel to Francefor another game after playing in London.

The first clash takes place on Saturday at the Lensbury Club in Teddington with Giselle Mather coaching a Nomads side which could features several players who have captained their country.

The squad includes Scotland’s Tracey Balmerand England’s Catherine Spencer who will provide a wealth of experience up front while Amy Garnett, the 101-times capped English hooker is also in the squad.

The two sides play again on Tuesday July 1st at Wasps training ground in Acton.

Nomads team manager Fiona Stockley said: “These games would not be possible without the support and help of all of the home nations, who have released lots of their players for the next week, especially England Rugby who have been of huge assistance in organising the series. The Nomads have a tradition of playing highly competitive rugby while also playing with a smile on their faces and it’s fantastic to be able to host South Africa after we have played there twice over the last ten years."
