Narrow loss for Spain against Canadian XV

Spain's "best team" (according to the Federation website) took to the field in Villajoyosa against a young Canadian team, in Spain for a training camp.

This was the second game between the teams and Spanish coaches Juan González Morocco and José García have made numerous changes to their XV with the aim of having a look at all of the players ahead of the playoff on June 29.

The Spanish defence was tested in the first half of the game. Las Leonas managed to contain the Canadian attack with an exceptional performance by Claudia Peña who has prevented a visitor's try on up to 3 occasions and, together with her teammates, has managed to keep the score at half-time at 7-15.

In the second half the ball fell more for the Spanish and they began to put together good offensive sequences thanks to the intensity, among others, of Clara Piquero and María Calvo. The final result, 26-27, showed equality in the game and Spain's improvement with respect to the result just 6 days ago when they fell by a resounding 12-27 in Elche.

Canada celebrates the victory in El Pantano.
